WHEN DO YOU RECOMMEND USING WHISPER INTERPRETING?

We only recommend whispered interpreting in limited situations. Having someone whispering out loud can be disruptive in a group or event setting. Often nearby attendees have difficulty concentrating with both streams of language going on simultaneously.

HOW DOES WHISPERED INTERPRETING COMPARE TO A TOURING SYSTEM SET-UP?

In most cases where an individual requires interpreting, we’d recommend a touring system over whisper interpreting services. With a touring system set-up, an interpreter can sit somewhere else while the attendee listens to the interpreter on headphones. It’s easier and less disruptive than sitting right next to them and whispering in their ear.

LIAISON INTERPRETING VS. WHISPER INTERPRETING

Liaison interpreting is a two-way form of interpreting between two parties, which could be either individuals or groups. Liaison interpreting differs from whisper interpreting in a few ways. Liaison interpreting can be either consecutive or simultaneous and can involve groups of people. Sometimes a short speech is made, and the interpreter takes notes and doesn’t begin interpreting until after the entire speech is complete. Whisper interpreting is simultaneous interpretation between two people.
